The right boots for the job

Looking at the suggested list of equipment, it looks like I've got most of the things I need. However, I'm not sure my current hiking boots will suffice, so best think about getting a pair of mountain boots that will work in snowy, cold conditions. So, thinking about the Scarpa Cumbre GSB.
Here's a bit of blurb from the website: The Cumbre GSB by Scarpa is a classic mountaineering boot, that offers high performance, and exceptional durability, from an alpine and winter mountaineering boot. Perfect for UK winter routes and ice climbing, this boot is equally at home on a Himalayan peak of up to 6500m, summer alpine trips and ice climbing/cragging trips.

Might try-on a pair on my next trip to the Lake District. Will need to buy them with enough time to wear them in before the trip...

London to Brighton

As another incentive to get fit, I've registered to for the London to Brighton Bike Ride. We're aiming for a 6.00am start from Clapham Common. And, I hope it's a nice day so that Lucy and the girls can join us for a barbecue - assuming we get there by lunchtime...

It's the weekend before we leave for Chamonix, so hopefully my legs won't be too sore for the mountain training.

The required kit

Found this interesting article online that gives a good introduction to climbing Mont Blanc, what to look out for, the training you need and the equipment.

All signed-up

Well, we've all paid the £250 deposit. So no turning back from here.

Bruce, Oliver, Wrigs, Razer & Duncan - we should know better.

Here's the week's itinerary. Looks challenging, but I'm sure we can make it.

Icicle Mountaineering

Started training with a 3 mile run into work today. It certainly blew away those festive cobwebs, just need to make sure I keep it up...

If anybody has a list of essential kit for the climb, I'd love to know.
